Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball at TD Garden (Shot on iPhone)

Lady Gaga’s “The MAYHEM Ball” (Night 1)

📍 TD Garden

If you know me, you’re probably well aware of my love for @ladygaga. Her music, production, dances, and her unrelenting vision to make something wholly hers has touched me in ways I only fully understood until I saw her live for the first time at @tdgarden.

Growing up, I distinctly remember my parents driving me to our local library. I’d sit on the carpeted floor by the CD drawers, sifting through every available genre of music. More often than not, I found myself in the “rock” and “dancepop” sections. This is where I discovered Lady Gaga, and ultimately listened to her debut album “The Fame” on my SanDisk Clip MP3 player.

I feel very fortunate to have experienced The Mayhem Ball two nights in a row: once by myself, and again with my parents. On night 1, I stood mere feet away from an artist confident enough to sing about feelings many of us struggle to even name. Lady Gaga has described her childhood as one shaped by constant questioning, asking herself: “Who am I? What am I? Who are we as humankind?” She’s admitted she prayed a lot. Not because she was very religious, but because she was always a deep, creative thinker — asking the universe questions about her life and why things are the way they are. She’s also spoken openly about being bullied, labeled as “weird,” and made to feel out of place for wanting to create and express how she felt. As someone who has experienced that sense of not quite fitting in, I deeply admire how she’s alchemized these events as fuel for the very art that’s made her feel more alive and like herself.

Her dedication to illustrating worlds and alter egos left me speechless. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention how impressive it is that she continually builds up other artists, designers, dancers, and creative directors, forming families and community in the process.

Everything about this show was cathartic and mesmerizingly beautiful. I will remember it forever. Thank you, Gaga ❤️‍🔥
