As you embark on the exciting journey toward finding the perfect photographer, you're bound to have questions.
That's why I've compiled a list of my most frequently asked questions so you can make an informed decision and better understand my process and style!

April-May and September-November are my busiest months, so I recommend inquiring at least 4 weeks in advance if you’re interested in those seasons. Sometimes I have last-minute openings though, so reach out to me regardless and I may have something for you!
-
Yes! After the deposit has been paid, you have the option to pay the rest in installments. The total must be paid by the day of our shoot.
-
Cash or checks (written out to Adriana Arguijo Gutierrez) are preferred, but I also accept Venmo, PayPal, and credit/debit via a secure payment link.
A $50 deposit is required to secure your spot in my books, with the remaining amount due on the day of the photo session. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
-
Only for certain locations more than 16 miles from Millis, MA — in which case the travel fee starts at $35.
-
A print release is a document that gives my client permission to reproduce (print) their images for personal use.
If you’re booking a branding shoot with me or any kind of photo coverage you plan to use for marketing/promotional purposes in the future, you’ll receive a branding release that grants you the right to use the images for your business/brand.
DURING THE SHOOT
-
It depends on the type of shoot, location(s) we’ve chosen, number of outfits, etc.
Unless you’re booking me for event coverage, a mini-session, or you’ve purchased an add-on for extra time, most photo sessions are about 1 hour long. Please arrive on time and plan accordingly so we can make the most out of our time together!
-
After you submit a contact form here on my site, I’ll email you my location guide! There, you can view sample photos for both city and nature locations. If you already have your dream location in mind, make sure to mention it in your contact form so I can review it.
Once you've picked a location, we can take photos anywhere you’d like as long as the spots are within walking distance of each other. Any place that requires driving or taking public transport during the photo session would count as a 2nd location.
Please keep in mind that some of my go-to locations require light hiking/walking, so bringing a second pair of comfortable shoes is recommended!
-
For photo sessions that include an outfit change (or if you’ve selected my “$35 per extra outfit” add-on), you’ll have more than enough time to change into your other outfit(s). Once we’ve spent a fair amount of time photographing one look, we can do the next. Most of my go-to locations have public restrooms where one can change, or you’re welcome to use my (surprisingly spacious) pop-up changing tent if the weather’s warm enough!
As for the outfits themselves:
Everyone deserves to look and feel comfortable in front of the camera, so wear something that genuinely makes you feel like you! I suggest avoiding large distracting logos, too many opposing patterns, and neon colors since they reflect harshly on the skin. Other than that, the stage is yours :-) -
Please have your remaining payment ready before we part ways after our shoot. If you’ve booked a package that includes more than 1 outfit, bring your outfit change(s) as well. If we’re meeting in the summer, I recommend bringing a water bottle since most of the locations I work at require quite a bit of walking. If our shoot is for the colder months, definitely bring a coat to wear in between photos.
-
If you'd like a friend or family member to accompany you to the shoot, they are more than welcome! Having someone you’re close with to assist with outfits, hair, etc. can be quite helpful — especially if this is your first professional photo experience, or if you’re a bit camera shy.
Are you interested in doing a few group photos during your solo shoot? Ask me about the friends/family add-on ($50, 5-10 images)! I also offer packages for friends who want to do a full shoot together (with more final images + shooting time included).
-
Absolutely! Despite the digital age we live in, it’s completely normal to feel a bit awkward in front of a camera, especially if this is your first professional photoshoot experience.
I’ll talk you through the shoot while giving you space to be yourself and settle into the environment. Whether it’s a solo or group shoot, we’ll get a good mix of poses and candids. We can do anything from simple sitting/standing to more dynamic prompts like walking toward the camera or tossing leaves in the air! Whatever you’re style is, we’ll have a chill time, I promise :-)
-
I keep an eye on the forecast leading up to my photo sessions, so if I spot rain, snow, freezing temps, or high winds, I’ll reach out to you as soon as I can to reschedule.
As the climate changes, the frequency of extreme weather events increases every year — especially here in New England. With that in mind, I try to leave a few spots open in my calendar every month for those weeks when it never seems to stop raining :/
For you adventurous people out there though — I’m always down to shoot in a little rain or snow! Just say the word, and I’m there.
AFTER THE SHOOT
-
Once I’ve finished editing the images from our shoot, you’ll receive an email invite to your personal photo gallery! There, you’ll be able to view and download your photos. You’ll also have access to my online print shop with professional-grade print products (photo prints, canvases, metal art, etc).
Turnaround time for photo galleries is 7-10 days. During my busiest months (Apr-May, Sep-Nov), it’s 2-3 weeks. Turnaround time for full wedding/event galleries is 6 weeks.
Need your photos sooner for holiday cards, yearbook deadlines, or model calls? Let me know ahead of time and we can discuss a faster delivery.
-
The exact number of photos you receive depends on the length of our shoot, the number of people being photographed, outfit changes, etc. An extended family session will get a lot more final photos than solo portraits, for example. Check out the Investment page for final photo estimates.
If you’re concerned about missing photos, I completely understand. I never withhold anything my clients might like, and I make sure to take plenty of images from each moment of our shoot! Before I edit, I sort through images that are repetitive, where someone might've blinked, etc, and you get the very best ones from our shoot. No need to pick from an overwhelming selection of proofs :-)
-
I do not. Lots of time, skill, and artistic vision are involved in my process, and it’s taken nearly a decade to develop my professional editing style. Raw photos also require specific software to access and edit them, as they’re very large files.
If for any reason you’re unsatisfied with the way an image was edited, please let me know! We’ll work together to find an alternate solution.
-
Yes! The final photos you receive in your photo gallery are all professionally and carefully edited.
My editing style is vibrant, yet true-to-life. I’m very inspired by film stocks and cinema, so my color grading is often an emulation of Kodak Portra 400, Ektar 100, Fuji Pro400h, or T-Max P3200. Check out my editing style here: The Editing Process.
In terms of skin, I do my best to preserve natural skin tones and textures. I’ll lightly retouch temporary blemishes or minor distracting elements, but no more than that. My job is to enhance your natural beauty that’s already there :-)
-
Once I’ve emailed you the invite to your photo gallery, you’ll have access to my online print store! I work with a professional printing lab for photographers, so the products available to you are all color-accurate and printed on Kodak Endura Professional Papers.
In the print store itself, you can select from a wide range of sizes and styles. I currently offer photo prints, canvases, gallery wraps, and metal prints. Sizes are between 3.5x5 and 30x40. Shipping to the U.S. only.
-
That’s completely understandable. Upon booking, you’ll see a questionnaire section before the contract where you can specify your preference. Clients can choose from the following options:
(1) Yes (website & social media)
(2) Yes (but please allow us to approve the images)
(3) Yes (website, but no social media)
(4) No (website nor social media)
(5) Other (please specify in a separate message to me)
PROFESSIONAL
-
I’ve been taking photos ever since I was old enough to hold a camera! I officially started my business in 2016, though. Since then, I’ve done over 600 photoshoots and covered over 400 events! I am self-taught, however, I was able to expand my skillset at Simmons University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Media Arts.
-
My primary camera body is a Canon 5D Mark IV. I most often use a Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 for portrait sessions. For events, I’ll bring out my 70-200mm and 24-70mm lenses — plus a speedlight flash, if needed.
I also have a glass prism and a set of lens filters that I use from time to time! You might’ve noticed those effects in my portfolio, especially in my music photography. All those effects are done in-camera (without Photoshop).
-
Yes! My film journey started during my first semester of college when I took a class called “The Poetry of Photography.” There, I learned how to shoot on a Pentax K1000, and how to develop and print in the darkroom! Analog photography taught me to notice more and shoot less, allowing me to catch the moments that matter most rather than shoot like crazy in hopes of getting a decent image.
Nowadays I shoot on a 35mm Canon EOS 3 (1998) , and occasionally on my grandfather’s old Fujica Flash Date (1978).
Want film photos of your own? Ask me about the 35mm Film Add-On! The add-on is $95, including JPEG film scans (approx. 10 images). You can check out my film photography here.
